Namibia has a reliable and secure property registration system. It offers a high degree of certainty in regard to the ownership of property, specifically as it pertains to the details of owners past and present, details of the extent of the property and any limitations or rights in and to the property.
The stringent requirements of the law ensure that you, the purchaser, are assured that the correct property is transferred to you, that it is free of any encumbrance pertaining to a previous owner, i.e. the previous bond is cancelled and a clearance certificate confirming payment of all rates and taxes and other imposts levied on the property, have been paid prior to transfer of the property being registered in your name.
Not withstanding this, a purchaser or seller of a property, may still have certain concerns and queries and our Legal Services section is designed to give some insight into and advice on these issues.
